ROSE'S STORY

Meet Rose and discover a powerful story of hope, transformation, and the life-changing impact of Reckon Houston’s mission.

When I first launched this ministry in 2018, I met a beautiful young woman named Rose just a few months after we began outreach. We met in the dressing room of a dark, smoky strip club. My team and I knew we were walking into what many would call Satan’s playground. Yet we also knew we were carrying something far greater… the love of Christ. We entered with small gifts, open hearts, and offers of prayer.

The women were getting ready for their shifts… doing their hair and makeup, changing into their outfits, and preparing for the night ahead. Many of them paused what they were doing to look through the gifts, talk with us, and allow us to pray for them.

Rose was one of those women.

We prayed for her the very first night we met, and just a few days later she reached out to us. From that point on, we began building a genuine friendship. In April 2020, Rose made the incredible decision to give her life to Christ.

I’ll be honest… this journey has stretched me. Maybe you’re like me and often want to see immediate results from the work you’re investing in. Our culture celebrates instant gratification, but ministry rarely works that way. Sometimes it takes months or even years before we see visible change. And sometimes, a minister may never witness the fruit of the seeds they have faithfully planted.

When Rose surrendered her life to Jesus, I was reminded that every difficult night, every disappointment, every obstacle, and every moment of resistance I faced during those first two years of ministry in Houston was worth it.

But God wasn’t finished writing her story.

Our friendship has continued through many ups and downs. It’s been a roller coaster journey since 2019, filled with moments of hope, setbacks, prayers, and countless seeds planted in faith. There were seasons when I wondered if anything was changing.

Then, in the fall of 2025, something shifted. Rose had a fresh encounter with the living God and began pursuing Him with a renewed hunger. She was baptized, found a Bible she truly connected with, began praying and fasting consistently, and has been learning to stand firm through spiritual warfare. Watching her grow in her faith after so many years of investing in her life has been one of the greatest joys of my ministry.

As our friendship continues to grow, I have the privilege of walking alongside her and teaching her God’s Word. I know that lasting transformation doesn’t come from my efforts… it comes through the power of Christ working in her heart through His Word.

Rose’s story reminds me that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it. Faithfulness may not produce instant results, but God never wastes a seed that is planted in love. Every prayer, every conversation, every act of kindness, and every seed sown in faith matters. In God’s perfect timing, He brings the harvest.
